Dear Family and Friends,
God showed His faithfulness in 2017 as we joined His work in North Orange County. We are excited to expand and step out in faith for what He has ahead in 2018.
Escrow has begun on a 4-unit apartment complex for our THRIVE aged-out foster youth women! California Lutheran Homes, a new partner organization, has generously offered to purchase this complex for our use rent-free to provide a home and support for 10 women from foster care and their children. As we look forward to launching this new home, please pray for the young men in our existing THRIVE home and for the parents and caregivers we serve through our growing RESPITE program.
Celebrate with us as we expand our domestic abuse support group to Anaheim in partnership with the Anaheim PD and Magnolia Baptist Church. This year, multiple women have been trained and certified to teach domestic abuse curriculum. Pray for them as they step into teaching and mentorship roles in the new locations.
Within our homelessness initiative, we are currently planning to launch three 8-week Jobs for Life (JfL) classes (January, May, September) at the Bridges at Kraemer Place homeless shelter . We are also in conversation to offer JfL in a new venue at La Vista Continuation School as part of our partnership with the Fullerton Collaborative.
Finally, we are looking for 45 new reading buddies to pair up with each of the 45 kids in our neighborhood after-school program at Valencia Park Elementary School. We are also going to be offering parenting classes, an upcoming marriage conference, and other ongoing community events in partnership with a local church, Calvary Chapel Logos, and BIOLA University.
We are so thankful for you! You have given your time as volunteers, built restorative relationships, supported us in prayer, and invested financially. We pray that you will continue to partner with us in this work of empowering those who are vulnerable in
With hearts of gratitude,
Jay Williams and the OC United Team
