Tuesdays

  • 10/15 (6:30-8:30pm) – Identifying Effects of Trauma on Children – Understanding the biological impact of trauma on the neurological development of children can help caregivers make sense of and meet the needs behind behaviors. Participants will learn about the prevalence and results of trauma, the importance of becoming a
stress detective, and how to increase their ability to remove barriers and provide co-regulation that will bring felt safety to the young person’s environment.
  • 10/20 (6-8pm) – Developing Resiliency – Resilience is the ability to return to being healthy and hopeful after bad things happen. Research has shown that if caregivers provide a safe environment for children and teach them how to be resilient, they can help reduce the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This class will help parents/caregivers to: gain an understanding of ACEs, learn how to help children to identify feelings and manage emotions, and explore the process of creating physically and emotionally safe environments. Parents will also learn about increasing their own resiliency, modeling problem-solving and healthy relationships.
