This new year has been filled with activity and growth for the Grapevine Ministry. I am now teaching classes on preventing and recovering from Domestic Abuse to six different groups each week. God has provided the opportunity to partner with The Lighthouse to reach a rotating group of women who are coming through their shelter on an ongoing basis. It is my hope to bring tangible strategies to these women as they begin to start a new life.
I have also been able to begin training two other women who are interested in teaching our Domestic Abuse Curriculum. We are hoping to continue this process this spring both in training new leaders and finishing the workbooks that will be used. My dream is to reach a much greater number of women by having more people able to run classes. Right now, with six different groups, my plate is full! Please pray that God will provide continued health and an abundance of workers.
He told them, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
A final praise: We are seeing God’s hand in our flourishing “Friday Night Live” program. Over 20 kids come to sing songs, make crafts and hear a short bible lesson at our OCUnited offices. Each week more parents are attending with their children making this a real family night out. We are also blessed by a group of regular volunteers from EV Free and the community joining in the fun. This continues to be one of the highlights of my week!
In closing, I again want say thank you for your continued prayers and support of the work I have dedicated my life to: ending the cycle of abuse and building strong families.
