Amber grew up in the foster care system. Bouncing from one home to the next, she acted out with anger and bad behavior. Eventually, she landed in a loving, stable foster home and started smiling more and yelling less. A year later, Amber was adopted into this family. Now an adult, Amber works with an OC United partner to provide foster kids in Orange County with the same love and guidance that changed her life.

The statistics of the foster care system are overwhelming. But behind each statistic is a real child facing an uncertain future. They need to be in relationships with someone like you. Whether you can host a child while their parent is ill, adopt someone in need of a family, or befriend a young adult in need of guidance, you are needed.

GET INVOLVED in Foster Care:

BECOME A FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE FAMILYOpen your home to a child in need: Make
a lasting difference in the life of a child by opening your home as a place of safety, hope and love. An informational meeting with a panel of experts in foster care, private adoption, and agency adoption will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 9:30 – 12 at our OC United office.

ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CAMP & MENTORINGProvide a camp experience for children in foster care: Serve as a counselor or staff at camp for children who are victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment, ages 6-12. Held the last week of July. Mentoring and club program run during the year. Mentors must attend camp.

TEEN LEADERSHIP CAMP & MENTORINGProvide camp experience for teens in foster care: Serve as a counselor or staff at camp specifically
for teens who are victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment, ages 12-17. Held the third weekend in June. Mentoring and monthly club run during the school year.

TEEN COURTCare for at-risk teens in foster care: Join us in launching a new ministry in partnership with Orange County Social Services for 91 teens in the foster care system who have been identified as at-risk.

EMANCIPATE FOSTER YOUTHSupport youth who have aged out of foster care: Starting fall 2016, we will launch a program to come alongside youth as they transition from foster care to adulthood. We are looking to build a team that is committed to investing in the long-term empowerment, success and independence of these youth.

FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILY SUPPORTCome alongside foster and adoptive families: Partner with foster and adoptive families as they care for children from difficult situations. Help by praying, encouraging, making meals, running errands, and more.

HUB RESOURCE CENTERDonate tangible goods: When children are placed into a foster home
or with a Safe Family, they often come with minimal or
no clothing and belongings. Needed items include: clothing (infant – teen), baby items, cribs, twin beds, dressers, diapers, toys, Legos, scooters, and bikes.

FOSTER CARE BAGS/GIFT CARDSBless with a gift: Bless children in the system with backpack or bag filled with new items just for them, or give a gift card to families who have had children placed with them.

CHILD CARE VOLUNTEERSInvest in the life a child: Weekly, monthly and on-call volunteers are needed to provide quality childcare for families. Make a difference in the life of a child while providing much needed support to families who are fostering or have adopted. Training, fingerprinting and background checks required.
